Simple tech, secure platform
If you can use email or video chat, you can do telehealth at MHCA. Here’s what we recommend for the smoothest visit.
Any modern device
Laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone — whichever feels most comfortable. A larger screen helps for IOP and family sessions.
Stable internet
About 1.5 Mbps up/down is plenty. Hardwired or strong Wi-Fi is more reliable than cellular for longer visits.
Camera & microphone
Built-in is fine. Earbuds or headphones add privacy and reduce echo.
HIPAA-secure platform
We use Zoom for Healthcare with end-to-end encryption. No app install required — visits launch in any modern browser.
Need help getting set up? Our front desk will walk you through a 5-minute test call before your first appointment if you’d like.
Whole-person care that goes deeper than symptoms
You don’t have to navigate this alone. At Mental Health Center of America, we treat the whole person — not just symptoms. Even when we meet by video, that means understanding the full picture of what’s going on in your life and addressing the underlying patterns that contribute to your distress, alongside the day-to-day challenges you’re facing right now.
Our integrated approach blends multiple evidence-based modalities — CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based techniques, trauma-informed care, and medication management when clinically indicated — into a single, coordinated treatment plan. The result is care that helps you build real coping skills, deepen self-awareness, and develop the resilience to thrive in every part of your life.
Whether you’re seeking individual therapy, IOP, medication management, or a combination, our virtual team is here to support you at every step.
Most major insurance plans accepted
Telehealth is now covered by virtually every commercial insurer and Medicare in Arizona — often at the same rate as in-person visits. Many patients pay little or nothing out of pocket after their plan benefits are applied. We’re happy to verify your coverage when you call.
See Accepted Insurance →Frequently Asked Questions
Is telehealth as effective as in-person care?
For most outpatient mental health concerns — depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and more — research consistently shows telehealth produces outcomes equivalent to in-person visits. Some patients actually do better online because there’s no commute, less anticipatory anxiety, and easier scheduling consistency.
Do you treat patients outside Arizona?
Our virtual care is currently limited to patients physically located in Arizona at the time of their visit. This is a state licensure requirement, not a technology limitation. If you split time between states, let us know — we can usually still coordinate care.
Can I get prescriptions through telehealth?
Yes. Our psychiatrists and nurse practitioners can prescribe most psychiatric medications, including most controlled substances under current federal rules, and send the prescription electronically to your pharmacy.
Do you accept insurance for virtual visits?
Yes. We’re in-network with most major Arizona commercial plans and Medicare for telehealth at the same benefit level as in-person care. Call (602) 224-2277 and we’ll verify your coverage.
How do I join my appointment?
You’ll get a secure link by email the day before your visit. Click it a few minutes before your scheduled time, allow camera and microphone, and you’re in. No app or account required.
What if I need in-person care later?
Easy — we have clinics in Mesa and Glendale. Your virtual provider can refer you internally and your records move with you, so there’s no starting over.
Is virtual IOP really as good as in-person IOP?
Our virtual IOP follows the same evidence-based curriculum as our in-clinic program, with the same group sizes and clinician-to-patient ratios. Many patients prefer the privacy and access — no commute, no parking, easier to attend consistently.
