John Garay


John Eli Garay, MBA/MS, LAC is a Licensed Associate Counselor who uses a trauma-informed & integrated approach to help people overcome depression, anxiety, PTSD, & life changes. John Eli helps people to understand the root cause of their problems & how to use their strengths to create a path toward healing & personal fulfillment. Most importantly, he tailors his approach to meet the individual needs of each client.


John Eli was inspired to become a therapist after studying the work of Deb Dana and Bessel Van der Kolk. Their work sent John Eli on a journey to discover how the autonomic nervous system stores implicit memory and how it uses that information to respond to the world around us and within us. John Eli uses this approach to help clients increase their self-awareness and resiliency.


John Eli holds a Master Degree in Counseling and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. John Eli also holds a Master Degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, John holds a BS in Family and Consumer Science that he earned at New Mexico State University.

After graduation, John Eli began working in Scottsdale, Arizona as a counselor at a trauma-informed intensive outpatient program. Now, John Eli practices in Mesa, Arizona where supports clients who are facing symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life changes.

Professional History

Since graduation, John Eli has garnered the respect of clients and fellow counselors by providing a trauma-informed and integrated approach to therapy that includes CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, Structural Dissociation Theory techniques, Polyvagal Theory, and EMDR.

When he is not busy supporting clients John Eli enjoys reading, listening to music and hiking.
