Raul Rivera, PA-C, is a physician assistant who works with and manages patients dealing with various mental health illnesses. He helps patients dealing with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, by utilizing antidepressant, antianxiety, and mood-stabilizing medications that are tailored to a patient’s symptoms.
Raul understands that no patient’s mental health struggle is the same, and that is why he loves to work collaboratively with patients to develop a treatment plan that is safe, effective, and patient involved. Raul was inspired to work in mental health during his training in psychiatry, where he observed the transformative change that can occur in the lives of those suffering from severe mental health issues after starting treatment and decided he wanted to be part of that change.
Raul holds a Masters in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine. Before this, Raul completed his undergraduate degree in Health Science at Arizona State University.
During Raul’s undergraduate years at ASU, he had the opportunity to volunteer as a Spanish interpreter at multiple clinics serving the low-income, underserved, and underinsured population of central Phoenix. Before joining the team at MHCA, Raul worked in inpatient neurology at various hospitals across the valley. Raul has garnered the respect of his patients and colleagues for the personability and compassion that he demonstrates towards every patient.
Raul is NCCPA certified and licensed to practice in the state of AZ.
When Raul is not busy seeing patients, he enjoys spending time and going on walks in the park with his wife and little Shih Tzu, Lola.
