Frequently Asked

Common questions about IOP at MHCA

How long does the program take?
Typically 4 days per week, 3 hours per day, for 8 weeks total — about 96 clinical hours.
Is it virtual or in-person?
Both. Virtual statewide across Arizona, in-person at our Glendale and Mesa clinics. Same care team across modalities.
Do you take my insurance?
We work with most major plans — Aetna, UHC, Cigna, BCBS, Medicare. We verify benefits before you begin at no cost to you.
Can I keep working during IOP?
Yes — that’s the design of IOP. Sessions are scheduled to fit around work, school, and family.
How soon can I start?
Same-business-day callback after your inquiry. New patients typically begin within 7 days.
What’s included?
Group therapy, individual counseling, psychiatric care, neurofeedback, and on-site wellness therapies (Red Light, Cold Water, Heat, Hyperbaric Oxygen) — all in one plan, no add-on fees.
What conditions does IOP treat?
Depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, addiction, gambling addiction, bipolar disorder, OCD, and other mood and behavioral health concerns.
What’s the difference between IOP and PHP?
PHP runs ~25 hours per week, often 5 days. IOP runs ~12 hours per week, 4 days — designed to keep you in your daily life while still providing structured care.
What happens after IOP?
All MHCA outpatient step-down services live under one roof. The same care team continues with you through standard outpatient therapy, medication management, and wellness.
Do you treat first responders or veterans?
Yes — we treat first responders, veterans, and active military through our adult IOP. TRICARE accepted.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The intake call is free with no commitment. We verify your insurance, recommend the right level of care, and answer any questions before you decide.
Do you treat gambling addiction in IOP?
Yes. Gambling addiction is one of the growing areas we treat in IOP — one of the few intensive outpatient programs in Arizona that addresses problem gambling directly. Our clinicians integrate evidence-based gambling addiction care alongside any co-occurring depression, anxiety, or trauma in the same program.
What if I’ve never been in treatment before?
IOP is the right starting point for many adults. The structure helps you build skills, get diagnostic clarity, and stabilize quickly — rather than waiting weeks between weekly therapy sessions for things to improve.
