At Mental Health Center of America (AZDHS – Licensed Out-Patient Treatment), our Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Phoenix and Mesa offers a flexible, supportive path to mental health treatment. Our program is designed for those who need care but do not need hospitalization and residential services. Our IOP helps teens heal while staying connected to school, family, and friends.
How Our IOP For Teens Works
MHCA’s outpatient program is designed to guide each teen through a structured yet flexible treatment journey, ensuring every step supports your treatment goals. Whether it is Anxiety, Depression, Substance Use, Addiction, or Trauma…starting an IOP with us at MHCA can not only help get you well but can also serve as the stepping-stone for getting back to the life that you deserve.
Program Overview
Our IOP for teens runs 4 days per week, with each treatment day lasting about 3 hours. Most patients participate for 8 weeks. A typical IOP day includes a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, skill-building sessions, and check-ins with psychiatric providers. This structure allows adolescents to receive consistent, high-level care while still maintaining their daily routines at home, work, or school.
- Licensed programs delivered by clinicians with experience treating adolescents
- Evidence-based therapies tailored to each teen’s needs
- High patient satisfaction and strong clinical outcomes, with most patients reporting significant symptom improvement by program completion
- Ongoing aftercare planning to support long-term recovery
Teen Assessment and Treatment Planning
Each teen in our IOP in Phoenix or Mesa begins with a comprehensive assessment, during which our clinicians meet with you to understand your needs, challenges, and goals. We strive to create a personalized IOP treatment plan tailored to each teen’s unique situation and to give each teen the best opportunity to reach or surpass their goals.
Personalized Therapy Plan
Based on the assessment, we create a treatment plan that may include individual counseling, group therapy, neurofeedback, psychiatric services (medication), and wellness therapies (Red Light Therapy, Cold Water Therapy, Heat Therapy). Our licensed interdisciplinary clinical team of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Counselors, and more works in tandem with our professional administrative team to provide the highest-quality, evidence-based services.
Our Phoenix and Mesa-based Intensive Outpatient Program prioritizes flexibility, with sessions scheduled to fit in naturally as part of your teen’s schedule, and affordability, working directly with your insurance for in-network and out-
of-network coverage.
MHCA’s IOP programs are provided within our existing outpatient treatment facilities. This unique feature allows MHCA to provide the absolute highest level of patient care by increasing accessibility to administrators and clinicians, extended session times, virtual sessions, and professional case management services.
Additionally, each clinic includes a private Wellness area where our clinicians and wellness team meet one-on-one with patients to provide consultation, training, and supervision of MHCA’s on-site Wellness Therapies such as Red Light Therapy, Cold Therapy, and Heat Therapy. Our wellness training and services can strengthen and accelerate treatment outcomes, increase the likelihood of maintaining those treatment outcomes for as long as possible, and decrease the probability that your stressors will return or possibly relapse.
Progress Monitoring
Throughout your IOP, our Doctorate-level Clinical Psychologist and your personal treatment team regularly meet to evaluate and optimize your treatment.
Our Phoenix and Mesa clinicians adjust your plan as needed to help you move toward your mental health goals. Our team of licensed clinicians make adjustments based on your teen’s progress to ensure you are continuously achieving your mental health goals.
