Dr. Christina E. Horner

Dr. Christina Horner, PsyD, is a post-doctoral clinical psychology resident who works with individuals across the lifespan to help support those enduring symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and more. Christina understands that here at MHCA we concentrate intensely on providing behavioral health care, education, and support to those in need, while utilizing a holistic approach to address individual needs.

Inspiration

Dr. Christina E. Horner was inspired by her family’s multi-ethnic heritage to learn the true value of meaningful relationships, diversity, inclusion and respect. Christina also has several family members battling addiction and mental health issues, and has sat with them through many of those dark knights. Watching their continuous fight to recover and heal has motivated Christina to continue her passion for helping others.

Education

Dr. Christina E. Horner holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Northern Arizona University. She holds several certifications and trainings including Psychological First Aid, ASIST Suicide Prevention, EMDR, DBT for Adolescents, Seven Challenges, and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. After graduation, Christina sought out a residency position, while she prepares for licensure. Now, Christina has joined our team here at MHCA where she helps clients decrease symptoms and increase a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Professional Experience

Over the last seven years, Dr. Christina E. Horner has garnered the respect of clients and fellow psychologist by providing excellent clinical care. She has experience across the lifespan and has worked in a variety of settings including alternative schools, juvenile corrections, adult inpatient trauma and addiction facility, neuropsychological assessment, and rural community mental health. 

Awards and Recognition

Dr. Christina E. Horner has been recognized for her academic achievements and was nominated for membership by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement.

Personal Interests

When she is not busy working, Dr. Christina E. Horner enjoys being active and creative. She loves playing volleyball and even played in college. Her love and dedication to the sport earned her the MVP title in 2005 and was later inducted into the hall of fame in 2015. Christina also enjoys making candles and spending time with her friends, family and fur babies. She has a small dog named Zeus and two cats, Neuron and Alexis.
