Channing Cabanilla, PA

Channing Cabanillas, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant who works with patients of varying ages and backgrounds to help them gain a better understanding of their own mental health and implement positive changes. Channing accomplishes these positive changes with patients through medication management, collaboration on behavioral changes and supportive psychotherapy. Channing believes that each patient is unique, and they should be treated as such.

Inspiration

Channing was motivated to become a mental health provider after realizing the incredible significance a person’s mental health has on their overall well-being. Channing believes that helping patients improve their mental health positively impacts them in all areas of life including physically, socially and professionally. Channing is a strong advocate in the mind body connection and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to mental health. Channing is passionate about removing any stigmas around mental health care and feels it is a privilege to get to support people in their pursuit of mental wellness.

Education

Channing holds a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Northern Arizona University’s Phoenix Biomedical campus. Channing earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Pre-PA studies from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Professional Experience

After graduation, Channing began working in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry as a Physician Assistant, with adolescents and adults. Now, Channing practices in Phoenix at Mental Health Center of America where she continues to help patients with treatment plans tailored to their specific needs. Over the last five years, Channing has garnered the respect of patients and fellow providers by treating patients with a holistic view and an empathetic approach.

Personal Interests

Channing is an Arizona native and when she is not busy working with patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to concerts, practicing violin, fitness and travel. Channing’s favorite movies/shows include The Mummy, While You Were Sleeping, Band of Brothers and Adam Sandler movies. Her favorite books include Pride and Prejudice and Bird by Bird.
