Dr. Douglas Cowan

Douglas Cowan, Psy.D., LMFT is a licensed therapist and neurofeedback provider in both Arizona and California who works with people of all ages to improve mood, clarity of thought, and performance at home, at work, and on the athletic field. Dr. Doug has been licensed for 35 years and has provided state-of-the-art neurofeedback work with his clients since 1990.

Inspiration

Dr. Doug was once a university-level baseball coach and a youth pastor, and it was his joy of helping people become more successful in life that inspired him to enter into the fields of counseling and neurofeedback training.

Education

Douglas Cowan holds a Doctorate degree in Psychology from Newport University, and a Master of Science degree from California Lutheran University. He also has extensive post-doctorate training in the field of neurofeedback from luminaries in the field such as Len Ochs, Siegfried and Susan Othmer, Eugene Peniston, and David Dubin.

Professional History

Dr. Doug has been a licensed professional for 35 years, and has work in a variety of settings including hospital administration and in-patient adolescent mental health treatment program development, private counseling practice, providing peak performance training to professional and college athletes, and has also served full-time for 12 years as a pastor of family ministries at a church in his former home town.

He has also served on the Board of Directors for Skyride Unlimited and their flagship property of radio station 88.3 LifeFM in Bakersfield, CA for the past 30 years.

Awards and Recognition

Cowan has written over 80 internet articles on ADHD in children, teens, and adults for the ADHD Information Library, has appeared on several TV and radio shows through the years, and hosted the “Family Matters” radio program on KERI AM and 88.3 Life FM for over 15 years in California.

Personal Interests

Doug has been married to his bride Susie for over 40 years, and they are blessed to be able to both work and play with their two sons and their families who live in Arizona. Doug enjoys golfing, bike riding, and cheering on their grandkids.
